Frequently Asked Questions

Are bifold doors secure?

Yes! Our bifolds feature multi-point locking systems on the main traffic door and internal shoot-bolts on every folding junction, making them exceptionally difficult to force open.

Can they fit into any opening?

Bifold doors work best in wider openings (typically 2.4 meters or wider). For smaller openings, we usually recommend our custom French doors or sliding options.

The Wide-Opening Showdown: Bifold vs. Stacker Doors

Feature Aluminum Bifold Doors Aluminum Stacker Doors
Opening Capacity 100% Opening. Panels fold away completely. 66% to 75% Opening. Panels stack behind a fixed pane.
Visual Look More vertical “lines” (frames) when closed. Large, clean glass panes with fewer interruptions.
Daily Access Features a “Traffic Door” (opens like a normal door). You must slide one large panel to exit.
Threshold Can be recessed for a completely flush floor. Usually has a slightly raised multi-track.
Wind Resistance Very high (multi-point locking at every fold). High (interlocking panels).
Space Requirement Needs “stacking space” inside or outside the room. All panels stay within the width of the track.
Price Point Premium. Higher cost due to complex hardware. Mid-to-High. More affordable than Bifolds.

Which one should you choose for your Harare home?

  • Choose Bifold Doors if: You want the ultimate “open-air” feel for your veranda. If you host large parties and want the wall to “disappear” entirely, the Bifold is the king of entertainment.

  • Choose Stacker Doors if: You have a beautiful view (like a garden or pool) that you want to see through large, uninterrupted glass panels even when the doors are closed. It’s also the better choice if you have furniture placed close to the door.

Still undecided? A Bifold requires a very strong overhead lintel, while a Stacker carries its weight on the bottom track. Our technical team at 202 Seke Road can visit your site to tell you which system your structure can support.

Pro Tip: In neighborhoods with high dust levels, Stacker doors are slightly easier to maintain, but Bifold doors offer a level of luxury that significantly boosts the resale value of properties in Borrowdale and Highlands.
